Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce SH sulfur in a lower H/oil volume ratio and at a lower reaction temperature by contacting a hydrocarbon oil having a specific sulfur content with a specific hydrofining catalyst under a specific hydro-demercaptan condition.
SOLUTION: A hydrocarbon oil having over 20 ppm of SH sulfur content and at most 0.35 wt.% of total sulfur content is contacted under a condition of hydro-demercaptan (hydro-deSH) wherein a hydrofining catalyst carried on an alumina carrier is tungsten oxide and/or molybdenum oxide less than 4-10 wt.%, 1-5 wt.% nickel oxide, 0.01-1 wt.% cobalt oxide, further the ratio of the total atomic number of Ni and Co to the total atomic number of Ni, Co, W and/or Mo is 0.3-0.9, and the H/oil volume ratio is not less than 5, preferably within a range of 5-30. Further, the condition of hydro-deSH is preferably at a reaction temperature of 149-315°C, a reaction pressure of 0.3-1.5 MPa and LHSV: 0.5-10/hr.
