PURPOSE:To prevent following key input from going to incapable by blocking the write of KANJI (Chinese character) in which KANA (Japanese syllabary- KANJI conversion is performed exceeding the limitation of the capacity of an editing buffer memory. CONSTITUTION:A control means 1 displays a KANA character inputted from an input means 4 on a display means 6, and when conversion is instructed to the KANA character by the input means 4, a corresponding KANJI is indexed from a dictionary 2 according to the instruction of an instruction means 5, and it is displayed on the display means 6. And when the instruction to define the conversion is issued from the input means 4, a defined KANJI is written on the editing buffer memory 3. And the control means 1 can prevent the disabling of key input from occurring to block the write of the KANJI having length exceeding the limitation of the capacity of the editing buffer memory 3 on the editing buffer memory 3.
