To provide a conversion of crushed and mixed waste materials to solid fuel that is controlled in their bulk density to a suitable value and the moisture content of the crushed and mixed waste material is controlled so that no half-burnt waste remains after combustion, when the solid fuel product of crushed and mixed waste of plastics and the like is combusted in a furnace.
Paper and plastics fed from the hopper 1 are crushed, mixed and the mixed waste is conveyed with a screw conveyer 2 constantly to the molding machine 3 whereby the waste product is crushed, mixed and extruded by an extrusion machine 3 into solid fuel and the resultant solid fuel is discharged by the discharging conveyer 9. In this case, the temperature of the solid fuel product 8 conveyed by the expelling conveyer is measured with the temperature sensor 10 and the value is input to the controlling part 11 to control the control valve 15 on the way of the water-feeding pipe 14 from the water- feeding tank with the feeding pump 13 depending on the measured temperatures. Thus, water is properly splashed to the waste of paper and plastics crushed and mixed to adjust the bulk density of the solid fuel product prepared by extrusion or molding.
