Title:
CONVERTER CIRCUIT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3216736
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the size and loss of an SMR converter, by decreasing the number of semiconductor elements in the current paths of the primary side of its transformer.
CONSTITUTION: When the potential of an AC input terminal U is higher than the potential of an AC input terminal V, in the case of energizing a reactor 1, by turning on a switching element 22, the branching currents of the primary side of a transformer of a converter circuit flow respectively through the following two shunts, after flowing through the path of the AC terminal U→the reactor 1→the switching element 22. The one shunt is the path of a diode 24→a terminal u1 of the transformer→an intermediate tap o1 of the transformer→the AC terminal V. The other shunt is the path of a diode 26→a terminal v1 of the transformer→7 the intermediate tap o1 of the transformer→the AC terminal V. (the number of the semiconductor elements in these shunts is two.) When a current is outputted to the secondary side of the transformer, either a switching element 8 or a switching element 9 is turned on and the switching element 22 is turned off. Thereby, as for only semiconductor elements, the current of the primary side of the transformer flows through the path of a diode 2→the switching element 8 or through the path of the diode 2→the switching element 9. (the number of the semiconductor elements in every path is two respectively.) Therefore, the number of the semiconductor elements in the current paths of the primary side of the transformer is reduced by one in comparison with conventional cases.
