To provide an AC/DC converter which can produce a stabilized DC output voltage with a simple configuration, the AC/DC converter exhibiting excellent efficiency compared with prior art.
The AC/DC converter comprises: a chopper 2; an input voltage detection unit 3; an output voltage detection unit 4; and a control unit 5. A diode bridge DB and a switching element SW are connected in series between a first input end 6a and a second input end 6b. A switching element is connected between the diagonal vertex c of the diode bridge and the second input end 6b. A coil L is connected between a diagonal vertex b of the diode bridge and the first output end 7a. A diagonal vertex d of the diode bridge is connected with a second output end 7b, and a capacitor Co is connected between the first and second output ends. The control unit performs on/off control of the switching element and converts an AC input voltage Vac into a DC output voltage Vdc having a target voltage value.
