Title:
WAVEGUIDE/MICROSTRIP CONVERTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH06164217
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To reduce the size and the blocking and also to improve the cross polarized wave identifying ability for a waveguide/microstrip converter by providing a probe consisting of a slit formed on the side wall of a waveguide and a microstrip line set on a dielectric substrate and also providing a shielding case which covers the upper surface of the probe.

CONSTITUTION: The electromagnetic wave incoming through an opening part of a waveguide 6 is fully reflected by a metallic wall formed at one of both ends of the waveguide 6. Then the electromagnetic wave is converted into a mode that is transmitted through a circular waveguide by a square slit 7 formed vertically to the side wall of the waveguide 6. Then the converted electromagnetic wave is led to a shielding case 10 forming a rectangular waveguide which is provided on a dielectric substrate 8 and has one of its both ends terminated by the metallic wall. Thus the electromagnetic wave is fully reflected again at the termination of the case 10 and drives a probe 9 consisting of a microstrip line on the substrate 8. In such a way, the electromagnetic wave is converted into a mode that is transmitted on the microstrip line.
