To provide a convertible top for a vehicle having an improved mechanism for control and operation of a lock device.

The convertible top for a vehicle includes a roof frame having roof side members, a lock device 9 for lockingly fixing the roof side members to a windshield frame, and a drive for locking and unlocking the lock device. The drive includes power transmission mechanisms 71 and 75 comprising at least two portions, and a coupling device 74. The power transmission mechanisms extend along the roof side members from a frame main section to a locking portion 9 which can be fixed to the windshield frame; at the outer oscillating positions of the roof side members, the coupling device can couple the front power transmission mechanism part 71 supported on the roof side members with the rear power transmission mechanism part 75 which can be driven for locking and unlocking. Also, the coupling device is separable for the inward oscillation of the roof side members.
