In this conveying device, a plurality of conveying means 2 capable of altering the conveyance speed of the conveyed articles 1 are arranged in the conveying direction of the conveyed articles 1, a control means H for individually controlling operation states of the plurality of conveying means 2 is provided, and an interval detecting means 8 for detecting interval between the conveyed articles 1 in the conveying direction is provided. The control means H sets the conveyance speed on the downstream side of the conveying direction of a speed setting point for the conveyed articles having reached speed setting points separated with an interval in the conveying direction of the conveyed articles 1 so that the interval between the conveyed articles in the conveying direction is a set interval or longer, based on detection information of the interval detecting means 8 and downstream-side speed information of the next conveyed article at the downstream-side position of the speed setting point in the conveying direction, and controls the operation states of the conveying means 2 so as to provide the set conveyance speed.
