PURPOSE: To enable many pieces of empty containing means to be set up and to shorten setting up time by operating a particular transfer means by a detecting means through a control device if the containing means does not contain anything.

CONSTITUTION: If a magazine 10 which has reached on end position of a second conveyer 12b contains a lead frame, a detecting means 14 detects this and temporarily stops the operation of motors 11a, 12a and 13a through a control device 15. If the magazine 10 is empty, the detecting means 14 operates a transfer means 21 through a control device 15 and starts a motor 21a. A lifting table 21c loaded with the empty magazine 10 transferred from the conveyer 12b, is lowered to a conveyer 11b as shown by an arrow mark D, and the empty magazine 10 is transferred onto the conveyer 11b. This conveying device can set up many pieces of empty containing means since the transfer means 21 transfers an empty magazine 10 onto the conveyer 11b even if the empty magazine 10 is set on the conveyer 12b of the conveyer means 12.
