To provide a conveying method and a conveying apparatus that eliminate the need of connecting an electric power line, a signal line, an air hose and the like to a travelling body, that allow a degree of travelling freedom to be increased, and that allow energy saving, travel noise reduction and manufacturing cost reduction to be achieved.
A work-piece W is conveyed by moving a work-piece gripping body 36 gripping the work-piece W in a horizontal direction and a vertical motion direction, by using a gantry loader in which the work-piece gripping body 36 is mounted to a travelling body 33 travelling along a rail 32 so as to be vertically movable. Movement of the work-piece gripping body 36 in the horizontal direction and the vertical motion direction is conducted by means of power supply from an electric double-layer capacitor 45 loaded on the travelling body, while power supply instructions are issued wirelessly.
