PURPOSE: To make conveying of short ingots possible without changing existing conveying tables by cutting the ingot partly for each ingot of predetermined sizes, and conveying the same as the connected ingot consisting of the plural ingots of the predetermined sizes.
CONSTITUTION: An ingot 4 is connected longitudinally via a connecting part 41a which is left without cutting in the part 41 where the ingots 4a, 4b of the prescribed sizes required in rolling stages are partly cut. A set width is left roughly at the center in the width direction of the ingot 4 and the width is set as narrow as possible within the range where the ingots of the prescribed sizes do not part from each other during conveying. The ingot which is partially cut to the plural ingots of the prescribed sizes and is a connected ingot of a single body as a conveyance unit is conveyed on conveying tables 3... to the ingot of the next stage or to the front of a heating furnace. The ingot 4 in the connected state is parted and separated at the part 41, and the respective ingots 4a and 4b of the prescribed sized are made as single ingots.
