The conveying roller 2 comprises a shaft 4, an annular wall 10 arranged on the shaft 4, and a rubber roller member 8 press-fitted to the shaft 4 and having one side face 8a. The annular wall 10 has a positioning side face 10a. One side face 8a is abutted on the positioning side face 10a to prevent the movement of the rubber roller member 8 to one side in the axial direction. The height in the radial direction of the annular wall 10 is regulated while another rubber roller member 14 of another conveying roller 12 is pressed against the rubber roller member 8 so that the hardness of a rubber generated on one end on one side face 8a side of an outer circumferential surface of the rubber roller member 8 is increased to a degree in which the skew of a paper sheet to be conveyed is maintained in a permissible range.
