To obtain a soft and tasty cooked bread good in appearance by forming a hollow penetrating through the axial direction of a columnar bread with convolutional cross-section in post-processing followed by filling the hollow with a sandwich material compatible with the bread.
First, a columnarly baked bread is axially cut through mechanical processing using a saw-tooth means in such form that two convolutions of the identical shape are engaged with each other, and the resultant two pieces are moved in vertical directions opposite to each other and separated from each other to obtain two formed pieces of bread each with a convolutional hollow 3 of the identical shape. Thereafter, the hollow 3 is filled with a sandwich material 5 to obtain the objective cooked bread 6. In the case that there bears a crust 7, the bread 6 is stable with semicylindrical contour, being advantageous when the material 5 is to be filled mechanically.
