PURPOSE: To improve the cooling efficiency and to improve the energy saving effect by cooling a roll with a flat plate-shaped water flow using nozzles having a flat discharge opening extended in the longitudinal direction of the rolling roll.
CONSTITUTION: Nozzle headers 7 and 13 are installed before and behind a work roll 2, respectively. The nozzle header 7 has a double structure where an outer tube 8 and an inner tube 9 are set concentrically. Cooling water supplied to the tube 9 discharges in the direction of arrow 12, flows in the circumferential direction of the tube 8, and gushes out from a discharge opening 10 in a flat straightened flow. Another nozzle header 13 also has the same structure. That structure device performs the effective cooling by a low hydraulic pressure in the header.
