To achieve a cooling apparatus which is harmless to earth environment and capable of achieving high use rate and low cost when cooling a plurality of cooling chambers at different cooling temperature.
A closed air circulation type freezing device 12 and a plurality of NH3 freezing devices 14a-d are both used to cool CO2 brine. At each of air coolers 16a-d provided to each of a plurality of cooling chambers 1-4, the NH3 freezing devices 14a-d for cooling the CO2 brine and brine cooling devices 28a-d, as well as brine supply devices 18a-d for sending the CO2 brine to the air coolers 16a-d, are independently provided. The closed air circulation type freezing device 12 includes a compressor 30 and an expansion unit 34 connected to a single-axis output shaft 32a of a drive motor 32, and the output shaft 32a is supported by a magnetic bearing 36.
