To efficiently cool a die and to shorten the cycle time of casting by cooling a cast product with an upper tip and a lower die with a lower tip, and successively, cooling an upper die with the upper tip and the lower die with the lower tip.
In a die opening process, a side die is opened and also, the upper die 2 is ascended while holding the solidified cast product in the upper die 2 to separate the upper die from the lower die 1. During separating the upper die 2 and the lower die 1, the tips 7a, 7b for water mist cooling arranged at the tip end side of a catcher pan 8, are inserted between the upper die 2 and the lower die 1. The water mist is simultaneously sprayed with the upper tip 7a and the lower tip 7b to cool the cast product 4 and the lower die 1. Successively, the cast product 4 is ejected out on the catcher pan 8 with an ejector pin 5 arranged in the upper die 2. The process for carrying out the cast product 4 with the catcher pan 8 is utilized and when the upper tip 7a and the lower tip 7b come to the center part of the upper die 2 and the lower die 1, the upper die 2 and the lower die 1 are cooled with the water mist.
