Title:
COOLING CONTROL DEVICE AND COOLING CONTROL METHOD FOR INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2013238138
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To prevent over-heating by feeding coolant in an inside coolant passage to a radiator when an internal combustion engine is overheated if circuit switching cannot be performed so as to connect an internal coolant passage in the internal combustion engine and an external coolant passage passing through the radiator due to a failure of a circuit switching means.

In a cooling control device for an internal combustion engine, when a circuit switching means has a failure and fails in circuit switching of connecting an internal coolant passage in the internal combustion engine and a radiator circuit passing through the radiator, a wax-type thermostat 30 provided in a branching passage 28 for feeding the coolant in the internal coolant passage to the radiator through the radiator circuit is operated to open the branching passage 28. Thus, the excessively-heated coolant in the internal coolant passage 4 flows to the radiator circuit to prevent the overheating of the internal combustion engine.
