Title:
COOLING DEVICE FOR ON-VEHICLE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2011214566
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a cooling device for an internal combustion engine, capable of suppressing the progress of thermal fatigue in each part of the cooling device including a cylinder head and a cylinder block such as a cylinder bore while suppressing the temperature drop of the cylinder bore whose temperature has risen in a circulation stop period of cooling water to improve fuel economy by suppressing the sudden temperature fluctuation in a circulating path of cooling water when releasing the circulation stop of cooling water.

The cooling device 20 for the internal combustion engine includes a water pump 23 capable of stopping the discharge of cooling water without depending on engine speed, and stops driving of the water pump 23 when an outlet water temperature is lower than a predetermined temperature in engine warming-up. The cooling device 20 further includes an inlet water temperature sensor 72 for detecting an inlet water temperature, and a flow regulating valve 50 regulating to make lower the flow rate of the cooling water flowing into a water jacket 61 as the inlet water temperature is lower after the discharge start of cooling water by the water pump 23.
