The cooling device 10 comprises a compressor 20 compressing refrigerant in two installations, an intermediate heat exchanger releasing the heat of the refrigerant compressed first by the compressor 20, a gas cooler 30 releasing the heat of the refrigerant compressed finally by the compressor 20, and an electronic expansion valve 40 expanding the refrigerant heat-released by the gas cooler 30 with heat insulation, and an evaporator 40 arranged in a predetermined cooling site to evaporate the refrigerant expanded by the electronic expansion valve 40 with heat insulation, in which the refrigerant is circulated among them while changing the phase, whereby the internal atmosphere of the cooling site is cooled. The heat release quantity ratio of the intermediate heat exchanger to the gas cooler 30 is set to 0.8 or less.
