To provide a cooling device which is provided in a housing accommodating at least one of a motor serving as a heating element and a power transmitting member so as to improve cooling efficiency of the heating element.
A space in the housing 10 is divided by a first bulkhead 11 into a first reservoir chamber 12 and a second reservoir chamber 13. The motor M is accommodated in the first reservoir chamber 12, and a second decelerating gear G3 is accommodated in the second reservoir chamber 13. Oil O is reserved in the respective reservoir chambers 12 and 13, and lower parts of the motor M and second decelerating gear G3 are soaked in the oil O. A reservoir region of the first reservoir chamber 12 is divided by a second bulkhead 16 into a first region 14 and a second region 15. In addition, a communication path 17 is formed between a downward tip 16a of the second bulkhead 16 and a bottom 12a of the first reservoir chamber 12. As for the oil O reserved in the first reservoir chamber 12, the oil O at a higher temperature remains closer to a liquid level L1 and the oil O at a lower temperature remains closer to the bottom 12a. Therefore, the oil O which moves through the communication path 17 to the second region 15 and overflows to the second reservoir chamber 13 is the oil O at the lower temperature.
