To provide a cooling drum cooling control device of a both-drum type continuous casting machine capable of controlling a clearance between a side weir and a cooling drum (of excellently keeping sealability), by preventing the occurrence of a difference in a thermal expansion quantity in the axial direction between one cooling drum and the other cooling drum.
The cooling drum cooling control device comprises physical quantity detection means (such as side weir displacement detectors 15, 15c, 15d, 15f) for detecting a physical quantity (such as displacement in the axial direction of the side weirs 4 and 5) changing in response to a thermal expansion quantity difference in the axial direction of a pair of cooling drums 2 and 3 and a cooling water control part 23 for controlling a flow rate or the temperature, or the flow rate and the temperature of cooling water supplied to any one or both of the pair of cooling drums 2 and 3 from cooling water control devices 31 and 41 so that the thermal expansion quantity in the axial direction of the pair of cooling drums 2 and 3 becomes the same based on a detection value (such as side weir displacement detection values da, dc, dd, df) of the physical quantity by the physical quantity detection means.
