PURPOSE: To prevent the hooking, etc., of the rod usual in the conventional method, and to continuously carry out the uniform patenting of the rod, by conveying the coiled rod on plural conveyer chains of variable relative speed, and by cooling the rod with air, etc.
CONSTITUTION: The coiled rod 2 is conveyed, being smoothed to a superior- trochoid type, on the conveyer chains 1R, 1L, parallelly traveling, and alternately changing the relative speed within a range 0.6 ± 0.03m/s; the rod 2 is forcibly cooled from the lower side by the air flow A sent from the blower 3 and the duct 4; hereby, the patenting is performed. The rod 2 meanders, so that the rod 2 is uniformly, surely cooled, and the irregular cooling and the hooking of the rod on the accessories of the chain like as the conventional method are prevented, and the continuous, uniform patenting can be performed.
