Title:
COOLING METHOD FOR IMMERSION PIPE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS5896813
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To cool the core metal of an immersion pipe thoroughly and to prevent the danger for the explosion, etc. of steam by forming said core metal into double pipe construction, passing gas-water mixed fluids between the inside and outside pipe.

CONSTITUTION: The core metal of an immersion pipe used for desulfurization, degassing, etc. of molten iron is made into double pipes which are closed at the preceding end, and gas-water mixed fluids of a gaseous substance such as air or nitrogen and water which is fluid to be atomized are blown through a gas-water supply pipe 11 into the spacing between an outside pipe 4-a and an inside pipe 4-b, whereby the core metal is cooled. While the mixed fluids entering the inside of the core metal ascend along the pipe 4-a, the pipe 4-b, the fluids deprive heat on the wall surfaces and are evaporated. The vapors flow out through an opening part 17. A cooling pipe is welded to the circumference of the core metal using a cylindrical iron plate, and the gas-water mixed fluids are run in the cooling pipe to cool the cooling pipe, thereby cooling the core metal indirectly. According to this method, the danger of explosion of steam is averted even if the core metal or the cooling pipe ruptures.
