Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling tower direct heat exchanger with an improved plate for distributing water in a spray system.SOLUTION: A water collection basin is located above a heat exchange section of a cooling tower, and exchanges heat with air. An upper gravity drain water collection basin bottom plate 50 has a plurality of spray holes 51 that allow water to be distributed downwardly onto the heat exchange section. Each of the spray holes has a diameter from 0.2 inch to 0.6 inch. This allows even and uniform wetting of a surface of a direct or indirect heat exchanger with evaporative water.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
