The cooling tower includes an upper sprinkler 7 for spraying circulation water heated by a heat exchanger 13, a heat exchanging section 5 exchanging heat between the circulation water from the upper sprinkler and the cooling air through a filling material 50, the structure 20 supporting the upper sprinkler and the heat exchanger, a lower water tank 11 disposed at a lower section of the structure at intervals from the heat exchanging section and recovering the circulation water from the heat exchanging section, a circulation flow channel 14 for circulating and supplying the circulation water of the lower water tank to the upper sprinkler through the heat exchanger, and a lower sprinkler 19 disposed just below the heat exchanging section and spraying the circulation water heated by the heat exchanger to the structure while bypassing the circulation flow channel.
