PURPOSE: To provide a compact cooling tower which prevents flying of bacteria, breeding in hot water in a cooling tower, to the atmosphere and realizes efficient removal of steam and promotion of vaporization of water.
CONSTITUTION: In a water vaporizing part to vaporize a part of hot water, the end part of a multilayer composite hollow yarn film 2 formed such that a uniform film A and a porous film B having a reinforcing function are alternately arranged in a container 1 is supported in an airtight manner in a state that a hollow part is left as it is. Hot water input and output ports 4 and 5 through which hot water is caused to flow in a space on the outer surface of the hollow yarn film and a pressure reduction port through which a pressure in the hollow part of the hollow yarn film is reduced to a value lower than a saturated steam pressure are formed in, for example, the container. Hot water is caused to flow through the water vaporizing part to vaporize a part of water and cool hot water, and simultaneously bacteria in the atmosphere is prevented from entering the hot water.
