PURPOSE: To restrict occurrence of noise from a sound absorbing material with a simple structure and reduce a mounting space by a method wherein the sound- absorbing material is applied at least a part of a louver in a cooling tower having the louver at the air intake part.

CONSTITUTION: A louver 12 itself arranged at a sound absorbing part 11 of a cooling tower is formed of sound absorbing material. The louver 12 can be supported by a louver support B and the like. As the louver for the air intake part, the louver is made of metal or synthetic resin and the like and the sound-absorbing material is applied to the surface of the louver. The sound absorbing material may also be arranged at a part of the surface of the louver or on the entire to cover it. In addition, vertical two rows of louvers may be installed across the sound absorbing part, wherein the louver at the outside row of louver is made of metal or synthetic resin and the louver at the inside row is made of sound-absorbing material. With such an arrangement, a sound attenuation chamber is not required to reduce an installing space and its weight.
