PURPOSE: To provide a cooling tower which makes it possible to prevent a short-pass of air inside and increase the amount of air passed through a packed block so as to improve the cooling efficiency.
CONSTITUTION: A hot water-distributing tank 4 for feeding hot water is provided above packed blocks 2a, 2b, 2c and a cold-water tank 10, under them. The hot water flowing down through the packed blocks is cooled by currents of air sucked in by a cooling fan 3. Air-barring plate screens 11 are provided perpendicularly to the flows of air in the gaps between the vertically arranged packed blocks 2a, 2b, likewise between the packed blocks 2b, 2c, between the hot water-distributing tank 4 and the uppermost packed block 2a, and between the lowermost packed block 2c and the cold-water tank 10.
