PURPOSE: To reduce the size of and improve the cooling capacity of a cooling tower by integrating a cross-flow type capable of treating a large amount of cooling water and a counter-flow type capable of reducing sizes of a tower body into a single unit of a cooling tower body in order to utilize merits of the two types and to effectively use space within the tower body.

CONSTITUTION: In a tower body 1 provided with a blower 19 blowing outdoor air into a tower through air inlet holes, a cross-filling 5 and a-counter filling 9 are arranged in a relationship of being spaced apart from each other by means of a partition plate 11. The tower body is provided with the air inlet holes 3, 7 in a portion facing an outer side face of the cross-filling 5 and in a portion facing a bottom portion of the counter filling 9. The blower 19 is disposed right above the counter-filling 9 so that a counter-flow type (A) and a cross-flow type (B) are integrated in a single tower.
