To provide a cooling unit for low temperature crushing treatment, a treating method or the like, capable of cooling a low temperature crushing object as uniformly as possible, reducing temperature rise of the crushing object before charging it into a crusher, and completing crushing a given amount within a limited time before the crushing object after cooling reaches a brittle point.
This cooling unit 20 for low temperature crushing treatment is provided with: a refrigerator 21 cooling cooling medium gas; a cooler 23 containing the crushing object and cooling the crushing object using the cooling medium gas as a medium; a pipe 22 connecting the cooler 23 to the refrigerator 21 and circulating the cooling medium gas; and a temperature sensor tA provided to the pipe 22 and detecting the temperature of the cooling medium gas after cooling the crushing object and leading to the refrigerator 21 from the cooler 23. The cooler 23 has two or more housing chambers 31, 32, 33 for introducing the cooling medium gas, which have openings 27, 28, 29 freely putting in and out the crushing object respectively, and sealing means 30 sealing the openings 27, 28, 29.
