PURPOSE: To extremely decrease the power consumption by supplying the exciting current to an exciting coil only when it is desired to detect the coordinate value by the signal of a signal producing part.
CONSTITUTION: A signal producing part 13 is provided to an indicating device 6' and the function of a driving part is actuated or stopped by a driving part control means in response to the output signal of the part 13. Then a signal is outputted from the part 13 when the device 6' indicates a position where the coordinate value is required while a coordinate detecting device is used. The driving part is actuated only when the signal is outputted from the part 13. Thus a current can be supplied to an exciting coil 5. While the function of the driving part is stopped to secure a non-conductive state between the coil 5 and a power supply 4 in case no signal is outputted from the part 13.
