To simplify the operation for exchanging position indicator between a pack type position indicator and a pen type position indicator, and to prevent erroneous input in a neglected state, by providing a magnetic shielding member so as to obstruct the electromagnetic action of a sensor coil inside a position detector and the pen type position indicator at the time of mounting the pen type position indicator to a pen supporting means.

The magnetic shielding member 13 is provided under a pen stand 12 or so as to cover the pen stand 12 so as to shield magnetism from the sensor coil inside the position detector at the time of mounting the pen type position indicator 2 to the pen stand 12. In the pack type position indicator 1, the information of the ON/OFF of a switch is detected in the position detector by the change of the resonance frequency of a resonance circuit generated at the time of turning ON the switch 11. Then, in this input device, by mounting the pen type position indicator 2 to the pen stand 12, the electromagnetic action with the position detector is interrupted by the magnetic shielding member 13 incorporated in the pen stand 12 and the position detector becomes incapable of recognizing the pen type position indicator 2.
