A coordinate inputting device 100 is composed of a rectangular coordinate input face 102 for inputting a coordinate position with an instructing bar 101 or a finger or the like and optical units 103L and 103R constituted of a light emitting part (not shown in a figure) for emitting lights almost in parallel to a coordinate input face 102, a lens for converging lights emitted by the light emitting part, and a sensor (not shown in a figure) for detecting a coordinate position A based on the reaching position of the lights converged by the lens. Then, the sensor of the optical unit 103R (103L) is arranged symmetrically to the optical axis of the lens, and the lens is arranged at the edge part of a lower side 105 of the coordinate input face 102, and the optical axis of the lens is arranged almost in parallel to the coordinate input face 102 and with an inclination of 45° against the lower side 105.
