Title:
COORDINATE POSITIONING MACHINE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3827748
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily control the motion of a movable arm by mounting a constraint means operating between a fixed structural body and the arm for constraining the motion of the arm with each of rotational degrees of freedom within a predetermined limit range.
CONSTITUTION: A machine comprises a movable arm 310, a supporting frame 314 and three powered telescopic struts 316 to a table. The constraint bodies for three rotational degrees of freedom of the arm 310 are provided by a passive independent rotary constraint device 340. This rotary constraint device 340 eliminates all rotational degrees of freedom, and permits the three-dimensional translation of the arm under the operation of the powered telescopic struts 316. The constraint device 340 operates between a mechanical base and the movable arm 310, and includes an expansible box 350 with an auxiliary rotary constraint device 360.
