PURPOSE: To approximately make equal the characteristic of the oscillation inputted for an oscillation sensor by providing a means to specify so that the posture at the time of operating the coordinate input by an oscillation pen can be made approximately constant concerning an oscillation transmission plate on an oscillation pen.
CONSTITUTION: In a coordinates input device to detect the oscillation inputted from an oscillation pen 3 with plural sensors provided on an oscillation transmission plate and detect the coordinates on the oscillation transmission plate of the oscillation pen, a protruding stripe 19 provided on a part of the outer periphery of the pen shaft of the oscillation pen 3, just when an operator grasps the oscillation pen 3, for example, even when it is surrounded by a thumb and the first finger, forms the curved surface handled at the best, on the side surface. An operator has the oscillation pen 3 so that the protruding stripe 19 of the oscillation pen 3 can be directed in the prescribed direction for his body. Since the operator can consider that the posture facing to an oscillation transmission plate 8 is approximately constant, the oscillation pen 3 is brought into contact with the oscillation transmission plate 8 at an always approximately constant posture. In such a manner, even when the directivity is present at the oscillation output of the oscillation pen, the characteristic of the oscillation inputted to the oscillation sensor on the oscillation transmission plate can be approximately made equal.
