Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a copolymer latex, containing an ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer as a constituent monomer component of the copolymer and a small amount of an emulsifying agent based on the copolymer and having a large particle diameter.
CONSTITUTION: This copolymer latex is obtained by copolymerizing monomers comprising ≥0.1 and ≤10wt.% ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid monomer and ≥90 and ≤99.9wt.% other monomers copolymerizable therewith. The content of an emulsifying agent in the latex is ≥0.1 and ≤1.5 pts.wt. based on 100 pts.wt. copolymer and the volume-average particle diameter of the whole latex particles is ≥500nm.
