Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a copolymer latex, excellent in chemical and mechanical stability and having a large average particle diameter.
CONSTITUTION: This copolymer latex is obtained by carrying out the emulsion copolymerization of (A) 100 pts. wt. monomers composed of (a) 10-65wt.% conjugated diene-based compound, (b) 0-70wt.% aromatic vinyl compound, (c) 0-10wt.% ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acid and (d) 0-70wt.% other copolymerizable monomers in the presence of ≥0.001 to <10 pts. wt. starch. The copolymer latex has ≥2,000&angst average particle diameter of the copolymer particles.
