To provide an alternating copolymer of an α-olefin and an α, ω-non- conjugated diene having a number of highly reactive carbon-carbon double bonds on the side chain terminals of the polymer chain of the polyolefin, a method for the production of the copolymer and a method for chemically modifying the carbon-carbon double bond on the side chain terminal.
The objective alternating copolymer of an α-olefin and an α,ω- non-conjugated diene is produced by copolymerizing the α-olefin and the α,ω-non- conjugated diene in the presence of a catalyst composed of an alumoxane and a crosslinked metallocene compound having at least one fluorenyl ligand. A polyolefin containing a functional group is produced by chemically modifying the carbon-carbon double bond of the side chain terminal of the alternating copolymer.
