Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a copolymer which is a graft copolymer having both hydrophilic branches and hydrophobic branches on the hydrophobic main chain by copolymerizing a specific hydrophilic styrene monomer and a hydrophobic monomer in a specified ratio.
CONSTITUTION: A copoymer is obtd. by copolymerizing a styrene monomer having a hydrophilic branch and represented by formula I {wherein R1 is H or CH3; R2 is H or 1-5C alkyl; &phiv is optionally substd. phyenylene; X is-O-,-COO-, -R3O-(wherein R3 is-CH2,-CH2CH2-,-OCOR4CO-,-CH2OCOR4CO-, or -CH2CH2OCOR4 CO-(wherein R4 is a direct bond or optionally branched 1-7C alkylenele); n is 1-3; and m is 4-25} with a monomer having a hydrophobic branch and represented by formula II [Wherein R5 is H or CH3; Y is a direct bond,-CH2-, or-Q-CH2-Q-(wherein Q is 10C or lower arom. or aliph.); Z is a direct bond,-O-, -CO-, -COO-,-OCO-, or-SO2-; and R6 is 4-22C alkyl] in a molar ratio of the former monomer to the latter of (10:90)-(90:10).
