Title:
COPPER ALLOY METALLIC MOLD FOR CASTING ALUMINUM ALLOY AND MANUFACTURE THEREOF
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04135041
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To manufacture a copper alloy metallic mold having high content of aluminum oxide and excellent wear resistance by dispersing shell-state hard phase essentially composed of fine aluminum oxide aggregated as shell-state in a base of copper or copper alloy.

CONSTITUTION: The Cu alloy is melted to make molten metal, and at the time of casting or just before casting this molten metal into an ingot mold, Cu alloy powder of which the most upper surface is composed of Cu or Cu alloy and the hard phase with the fine aluminum oxide aggregated in the shell-state exists in the inside just below the most upper surface is added into this molten metal. Then, the ingot having structure with the shell-state hard phase dispersed in the base can be produced and this ingot is subjected to plastic working, and by finishing it to the prescribed shape, the copper alloy metallic mold for casting which can produce an aluminum alloy casting with excellent mechanical characteristic, does not generate thermal fatigue crack and hardly comes into reaction with molten aluminum can be obtd.
