PURPOSE: To simplify the arrangement of a control means by using a control means for both first and second stepping motors for driving a single and multiple jogger fence, and by making drive exciting modes therefor different from each other.

CONSTITUTION: A single jogger fence is driven by a first stepping motor so as to correct the lateral positions of recording sheets one by one on a double surface tray. A double jogger fence is driven by a second stepping motor so as to correct the lateral positions of several recording sheets stacked one upon another on another double surface tray. Only one microcomputer is used as a drive control means for controlling both stepping motors with drive exciting modes which are different from each other and which are changed over with the use of the interval time of serial signal receiving interruption by a system control section. Thus, it is possible to easily control a plurality of stepping motors in different exciting modes at a low cost.
