PURPOSE: To prevent the waste of a printing paper without necessitating a troublesome operation by temporarily holding the printing paper which is being carried through a paper carrying path inside an equipment when a carried original is jammed and utilizing the printing paper in the case of next printing.

CONSTITUTION: When the original 7 does not reach a resist detector 11 after a specified time elapses in the case of carrying the second sheet of the original 7, an ADF 2 judges that non-feeding jamming occurs and transmits jamming data to a CPU. After finishing copying the first sheet of the original 7, all the erasing lamps 25 are turned on in the timing of erasing a trailing edge which is transmitted from an exposure optical system 14, and all the electrostatic latent images on a photosensitive body 20 are erased. After confirming that the printing paper 3 exists at the position of a resist roller 24, the resist roller 24 is driven. At such a time, a movable guide 37 is actuated by the control of the CPU, and the printing paper 3 is carried and held in an internal cassette 38 in the case of one side printing. When printing is performed to a second side in the case of both-side printing, the printing paper 3 is ejected from a copying machine main body 1.
