PURPOSE: To provide a copying machine in which a resist for both a scanner and a plotter is easily adjusted.

CONSTITUTION: This copying machine is provided with an image processing unit having a 1st generating means 3b generating a 1st test pattern A, with a video signal control section having a 2nd generating means 7b generating a 2nd test pattern B, with a synthesis means synthesizing the 1st test pattern generated by the 1st generating means 3b and the 2nd test pattern generated by the 2nd generating means 7b and with an image forming means forming a pattern image resulting from being synthesized by the synthesis means onto a recording medium.
