PURPOSE: To automatically and quickly clear modes so as to automatically clear the set copying mode and to return to a standard mode right after finishing copying action.

CONSTITUTION: A copying machine possesses a copying mode set means setting the copying mode, a mode clear timer means automatically clearing the copying mode set by the copying mode set means and returning to the standard mode after a set time has elapsed after finishing the copying action, and a mode clear reserving means automatically clearing the set copying mode and returning to the standard mode right after finishing the copying action, and, a paper ejecting sensor 17 detecting that a last copying paper is ejected is provided. While the copying machine is set in the state where the mode clear is reserved and when the paper ejecting sensor 17 detects that the last copying paper is ejected, the mode is automatically cleared on the basis of a detected result and the copying mode is returned to the standard mode.
