PURPOSE: To attain a stylus pen form, and to make a device cordless in order to make the device suitable to character input in a position designating device for computer input.

CONSTITUTION: In a position moving amount detector, zigzag polygonal-shaped conductors 11 for position detection having almost the same coil width as the diameter of the coil of a position indicator 2 are constituted in almost the same intervals as the diameter or width of the zigzag polygonal-shaped conductors in a position detecting direction. This device is provided with a tablet part 1 which consists of plural first grids set in parallel to a direction orthogonally crossing the position detecting direction, and second grids which are set so as to be orthogonally crossing the first grids and almost the same as the first grids, position indicator 2 which radiates a high frequency magnetic field energy, and plural amplifiers 3 corresponding to the output terminals of the plural detecting coils of the first and second grids. Signals obtained by detectors connected with the outputs of the amplifiers 3 and integrators 4 indicate a rapid change when the position indicator 2 passes on the position detecting grids, and signals in proportion to the moving amounts of the position indicator obtained by using the rapid change as a reference are outputted to X and Y-axes.
