PURPOSE: To enable a call originating operation even in the charging state of loading a hand set on the housing part of a charger and to improve the operability of the folding type hand set by providing a dial button and a function selection button at the charger.

CONSTITUTION: This cordless telephone set is provided with a superimposing circuit 21 for superimposing a signal outputted from a dial button 22 or a function selection button 23 provided at a charger 4. Normally, a charging battery 19 of a hand set 3 is charged by being supplied a charging current through the passage of a power source 24 for charging at the charger 4, superimposing circuit 21, charging terminal 20b, charging terminal 20a of the hand set 3, fractionating circuit 17 and charging circuit 18. Next, when an operator operates the function selection button 23 of the charger 4 for originating a call from a telephone line 1, a signal for line wire call origination is superimposed to the charging current by the superimposing circuit 21 and applied through the charging terminals 20a and 20b to the hand set 3. Then, the fractionating circuit 17 of the hand set 3 fractionates the signal superimposed to the charging current and when it is applied to a control circuit 13, the control circuit 13 detects the signal.
