Title:
CORE OF GEOMETRICALLY PATTERNED GOLF BALL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2000084120
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a solid golf ball which is excellent in the carry and durability and has the similar feeling and controllability as of a wound string ball, and to provide a method for manufacturing the same.

The core 10 of this geometrically patterned golf ball has plural protrusions 14 extending outward formed over the center part 12 of the ball. A layer 22 made of a material with relatively low elasticity is applied is gaps between the protrusions 14 on the surface of the core 10, and a cover 24 is formed over the core 10 and the gap layer 22. This geometrically patterned core 10 is manufactured first by preparing a flexible and elastic inserting body with the honeycomb structure which is used for ordinary compression molding metal molds. The inserting body is put inside the cavity between upper and lower metal molds, then a core material is added to form the core 10 of the geometrically patterned golf ball by means of the compression molding.
