To provide a core for a run flat tire capable of enhancing the handling property in a run flat traveling mode and excellent in the rim fittability and the durability, and a tire assembly having the core.
The core has a circumferential wall 44 in which a cap 42 is expanded to both sides in the width direction from a base 41 and an annular body 43 extends substantially orthogonal to the meridian section with respect to an inner circumferential surface of the base 41 and extends along the circumferential direction, and a width-wise wall 45 extending along the width direction. The circumferential wall 44 is provided on the inner side in the width direction of at least 5 mm from an end of the width direction of the base 41. In the width-wise wall 45, a side face 46b forming a forward side in the push-in direction when assembling to a wheel rim connects an end in the width direction of the cap 42 to an end in the width direction on the same side as the base 41, and the side face 46a on the opposite side extends substantially orthogonal to the meridian section with respect to the inner circumferential surface of the base 41 from the end in the width direction of the base 41.
