PURPOSE: To easily correspond to high speed printing and high gradation printing by connecting a plurality of switches to the individual heating elements in a thermal head and connecting current supplies different in current value to a plurality of the switches and providing a control means capable of individually controlling the opening and closing of a plurality of the switches connected to the heating elements.
CONSTITUTION: A plurality of switches 102, 103 are connected to the individual heating elements 101 in a thermal head and current supplies 104, 105 different in current value are connected to a plurality of the switches 102, 103 and a control means 106 capable of individually controlling the opening and closing of a plurality of the switches 102, 103 connected to the heating elements 101 is provided. As a result, the transmission interval of printing data is expanded to be able to easily correspond to high speed printing and high gradation printing becoming short in printing time. Further, high resolving power printing and large screen printing becoming long in printing data transmission time and the keeping and increase of printing speed can be easily realized.
