Abstract:
PURPOSE:To linearly associate the level of an output signal from an image pickup element with the light intensity of the color of an inputted image by connecting an output signal correcting device consisting of a ROM, a RAM being a correction data storage means and an Xn multiplier being an arithmetic means to the later stage of a shading correcting device. CONSTITUTION:When a CCD 1 reads an original in half tone, correction data used for setting the levels of the output signals of each image pickup element to the prescribed value is stored at every address in the ROM 8 of the correcting device 200. In order to set the levels of said signals, the arithmetic, XnXXn (0=1 according as the level of the output of the shading correcting device 100 is larger or smaller than the prescribed value, and Xn that is '1' if the level of the output of the device 100 is the prescribed value, are stored as correction data in the ROM 8. A control circuit 2 gives address data corresponding to the element of the position of the read-out CCD 1 to the RAM 9. Thus a piece of data Xn required for XnXXn, which is executed for correcting the deviation of said element, is given to the RAM 9 by outputting from the ROM 8. As a result the correcting device 200 corrects the output data of the device 100, whereby data distortion due to the deviation of elements of CCD 1 in terms of linearily can be removed.
